Dalhousie is a town located at an altitude of 1,970 meters above sea-level and escalated over 5 hills near the Dhauladhar mountain range in the north indian states of Himachal Pradesh. The town Of Dalhousie has procured its name after the British General, Lord Dalhousie. Trip to Dalhousie would be incomplete without visiting Khajjiar. Khajjiar (The Mini Switzerland Of India).On West, of Khajjiar is Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to animals such as deers and bears. The trek to Kalatop will definitely give your heart a relaxed feeling as the entire path is filled with dense forest, where the wind and sun kisses from among the pine & cedar trees that contributes the pleasure of a proper trek, that makes you feel isolated and away from the noise of the city.
Dainkund Peak It is known to be the highest peak of Dalhousie, with the height of 2,755 meters. The two hours moderate trek offers you 360-degree of Himalayas and valleys. Also you can enjoy enchanting views of Peer Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges. On the way to trek enjoy playing with the snow, here you can find snow for about 6-7 months in a year. From the viewing point you can see the Charming view of the Khajjiar Lake.
Khajjiar Lake Surrounded by pine forests from all sides and the grasslands all around the Khajjiar lake gives it it's beauty and also its name "Mini Switzerland". Obtaining such large open area in the mountains is like a Paradise, where you can enjoy picnic along with soothing music of a local artists with your family or loved ones in a bliss. During winter the lake becomes more attractive. You can also venture into adventure activities like Zorbing and horse riding.
One cannot miss the 800 year old Khaji Nag temple due to which this place got its name. Panchpula Yet another mesmerising picnic spot in Dalhousie. Surrounded by lush green trees of deodar and pine. You can also see a samadhi of Sardar Ajit Singh(Bhagat Singh's uncle) built close to the place as he took his last breathe here. Ideal for trekking & adventure enthusiast as it presents astounding undisturbed natural beauty. Monsson is the best time to visit when the water is in full flow and rushes down beautifully. From here you can trek to *Satdhara Falls the term Satdhara is another term for seven springs; which means that this waterfall gets its white water from seven different springs.
